Founded in 2015, the Fire Foundation is a charitable organization that assists the Greenwood Fire Department and community.
ABOUT THE GFF
The Greenwood Fire Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to continue the tradition of selfless service to the community that the Greenwood Fire Department started in 1890. The foundation contributes to this traditon by assisting the Greenwood Fire Department, the fire-service community, and the community at large in the areas of advanced training, technology, education, provision of critically needed equipment, support services, and community outreach.
The Goals and Funding Priorities of the Greenwood Fire Foundation are to:
Enhance public education and community awareness of safety and wellness issues such as fire prevention, emergency medical issues, CPR and first aid training, home safety, and proper child car seat use
Raise funds to assist the Greenwood Fire Department in providing the highest level of public safety to our community
Encourage the health and wellness of Greenwood Firefighters and its citizens
Promote civic spirit and support for public safety
Provide resources for families of firefighters and victims and survivors of fire and other disasters in our community
The Foundation also aids in the Mobility Program, which provides mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, and other mobility equipment to individuals in need. This initiative helps improve the quality of life for those facing mobility challenges, ensuring greater independence and the ability to independently perform daily activities.
The Foundation organizes multiple events throughout the year, including two popular annual fundraisers that help raise the funds needed for our initiatives.
Purse Bingo (Spring): A fun and exciting bingo event where players have the chance to win stylish new purses! This popular event draws attendees from near and far, with all proceeds going directly toward supporting the fire department’s equipment and community programs.
Bingo Brawn & Brew (Fall): A unique bingo experience geared towards the gentlemen, where participants have the opportunity to win camping gear, tools, fishing equipment, firearms, and other prizes. It’s a fun way to connect with the community while helping raise funds for the fire department.
The Greenwood Fire Foundation is proud to play a key role in ensuring the fire department has the resources needed to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies. Every dollar raised helps our firefighters be better prepared, while also supporting initiatives that strengthen our community. We thank all those who contribute and participate in our events, and we invite you to join us in making Greenwood a safer place.
